What. A. Day.
First day of shooting Ketchup the sitcom
Only one thing to say. First day of shoot could not have gone better!
Okay… that’s not all I’m going to stay, obviously. First scene was a bedroom scene - Joy and Joy waking up in Bolton (Arona) on the day of the move. I didn’t know, but having never met before, Ty Tennant and Lauren Patel decided that it would be more ‘proper’ to actually have talked to each other before turning up on set and jumping straight into the sack together so they chatted Ketchup the weekend before shoot.
Whatever the conversation, it worked. The chemistry between the two of them was perfect - Joe (Ty) underplaying the occasion, and Joy (Lauren) overexcited by pretty much everything. The bed scene was so cute, and a great set up to their personalities.
From there we headed down to the bar and filmed the next seven scenes, all more-or-less in one-takes thanks for the prep, performance and improvisation of Ty, Lauren and Tim Faraday (Frank).
Because of the amazing crew and cast, we are already well ahead of schedule (touch wood), which means we’ll be able to spend more time on a couple of tricky scenes and the big stunt at the end of the episode (more to be revealed).
I had intended to send live updates, but I was so awed with the actors, and involved in minor script changes that I only had time to gulp down a muffin and a couple of coffees.
Tomorrow, I shall endeavour to post ‘live’ with more pics. Until then… thanks for following the Ketchup journey, and please spread the word by sharing the link to this, or the subscribe page.

Brilliant.
